Yeongcheon is a regional rail hub in North Gyeongsang Province, positioned between Daegu, Gyeongju, Andong, and the eastern corridor of South Korea. The city is served mainly by Yeongcheon Station, with KORAIL operating passenger services over the Jungang Line and the Daegu Line connection. Its rail role is strongest for regional trips across Gyeongbuk and for transfers toward larger hubs.
Trains from Yeongcheon include KORAIL intercity and regional services such as ITX-Maum and Mugunghwa where scheduled. Yeongcheon Station is the main train station for city rail departures, connecting local passengers with Dongdaegu Station for wider high-speed train connections on the national network. Yeongcheon does not function as a primary KTX hub, but it links into the national rail system through nearby Daegu.
Routes from Yeongcheon run west toward Dongdaegu and Daegu, north toward Andong and the central inland corridor, southeast toward Gyeongju and coastal connections, and onward toward larger transfer points such as Busan and Cheongnyangni in Seoul.
