Iksan is a major rail junction in North Jeolla Province, where the Honam Line, Jeolla Line, and Janghang Line meet. The city has one principal passenger rail hub, Iksan Station, served by Korail and SR. This position makes Iksan an important transfer point between the Seoul area, western South Korea, and the Jeolla region.
Services from Iksan include KTX high-speed trains, SRT high-speed trains, ITX-Saemaeul intercity trains, and Mugunghwa regional services. Iksan Station is the main train station for long-distance and regional rail, with KTX and SRT using the high-speed network and conventional trains using the older regional corridors.
Rail routes from Iksan run north toward Seoul, Yongsan, Suseo, Cheonan-Asan, and Daejeon, south toward Gwangju-Songjeong, Mokpo, Jeonju, Suncheon, and Yeosu-Expo, and west toward Gunsan on the Janghang Line corridor. Book trains from and to Iksan online at Rail Monsters.
