Tosu is a key rail junction in northern Kyushu, positioned between Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, and Kagoshima. The city has two main passenger stations: Tosu Station, the historic junction of the Kagoshima Main Line and Nagasaki Main Line, and Shin-Tosu Station, the city's Kyushu Shinkansen stop. JR Kyushu operates the passenger rail services in Tosu.
Trains from Tosu include Kyushu Shinkansen services at Shin-Tosu, limited express and regional trains on the Nagasaki Main Line, and local services on the Kagoshima Main Line. Shin-Tosu is the main train station for bullet train access, while Tosu Station handles regional travel and interchanges between north-south and westbound rail corridors.
Rail routes from Tosu run north toward Hakata and Fukuoka, west toward Saga and Nagasaki, south toward Kumamoto and Kagoshima-Chuo, and across northern Kyushu through Kurume. The city does not have a direct airport rail station, but passengers can connect by rail through Hakata for Fukuoka Airport. Book trains from and to Tosu online at Rail Monsters.
