High-speed G-category trains link Shanghai Hongqiao with Xuancheng North (Xuanchengbei). Most are Fuxing (CR400 series) or Hexie (CRH380) EMUs, offering Second, First, and on many departures Business Class. Running at up to 300 km/h (186 mph) on the Shanghai–Hangzhou and Hefei–Hangzhou high-speed corridors, the quickest trips take about 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours 10 minutes, depending on the stopping pattern and whether the train routes via Huzhou or Hangzhou East (typical intermediate calls include Jiaxing South, Huzhou, or Hangzhou East). In parallel, conventional Z/K services operate from Shanghai (often Shanghai South) to Xuancheng (city station) over the Xuancheng–Hangzhou railway at around 120–160 km/h (75–99 mph). These trains make more local stops, so the total journey time is usually 4 to 5 hours. Both options provide reserved seating; high-speed sets add power outlets, overhead luggage racks, and a trolley or café service, with Business Class on some Fuxing sets featuring lie-flat seats. Choose a G-train for the fastest arrival and fewer stops, or select the classic services if you prefer lower fares or late-night departures.
