Paris to Essen uses Eurostar's continental baggage rules, which differ from the London route. You carry and store your own luggage on board.

Luggage Allowance

On continental Eurostar services, bring up to two luggage items, each no larger than 75 x 53 x 30 cm, plus one small hand item. There is no fixed weight limit, but you must be able to carry everything yourself.

Storage Facilities

The former Thalys trainsets used to Essen have luggage racks near carriage entrances and overhead shelves for smaller bags. Keep aisles, doors and emergency equipment clear, and label your luggage.

Special Items

Do not assume that an assembled bicycle can travel on the Paris to Essen train. Bicycles must meet Eurostar's continental folding or dismantling and bagging rules; check instrument and sports-equipment conditions before booking.

Coaches depend on road traffic and may use stops outside Essen's central station area.
