Caxarias is a small rail hub in central Portugal on the Linha do Norte, the main rail corridor between Lisbon and Porto. The town has one main passenger train station, Caxarias, and services are operated by Comboios de Portugal, usually known as CP. Its rail role is local and regional, but selected long-distance services make Caxarias useful for travel between the Santarem district and Portugal's largest cities.
Services from Caxarias include CP Intercidades trains on the national intercity network and CP Regional services for shorter trips along the Linha do Norte. Caxarias train station handles both northbound and southbound travel, with connections possible at larger interchange stations such as Entroncamento and Coimbra-B. Portugal does not currently operate a high-speed rail service through Caxarias.
Rail routes from Caxarias run south toward Entroncamento, Santarem, Lisbon Oriente, and Lisboa Santa Apolonia, and north toward Pombal, Coimbra-B, Aveiro, and Porto Campanha. Some longer journeys require a change at a larger CP station depending on the date and timetable. Book trains from and to Caxarias online at Rail Monsters.
