Dammam is the eastern terminus of Saudi Arabia's main passenger rail corridor between the Gulf coast and Riyadh. The city has one principal intercity train station, Dammam Railway Station, and passenger services are operated by Saudi Arabia Railways, commonly known as SAR. Its rail role is focused on the Eastern Province corridor rather than the Haramain high-speed network in western Saudi Arabia.
Trains from Dammam use conventional intercity services with reserved seating on SAR trains. Dammam Railway Station handles departures and arrivals for the inland route through Abqaiq and Hofuf toward Riyadh. There is no direct airport rail link from King Fahd International Airport to Dammam station, so passengers typically arrange a road transfer before continuing by train.
Rail routes from Dammam run southwest through Eastern Province towns and then west toward the capital. The most important rail destinations include Abqaiq, Hofuf, and Riyadh, with onward connections from Riyadh to other parts of the SAR network where available.
