The direct international AVE uses Estandar seating in a 2+2 layout and Confort seating in a 2+1 layout. Both require seat reservations; Confort has wider seats and more space between rows. Connecting TGV INOUI services have Second and First Class, with their own fare and luggage conditions.

Practical Information for AVE Travelers

The direct Barcelona - Aix AVE follows Renfe's luggage rules, not those of French TGV services. You must carry and stow your own bags.

Luggage Allowance

On the direct Renfe AVE, bring up to 3 hand-luggage pieces with a combined weight of 25 kg. Their combined dimensions must not exceed 290 cm, and the largest piece must not exceed 85 x 55 x 35 cm.

Storage Facilities

The Series 100 AVE has overhead shelves and luggage racks near carriage entrances. Keep aisles and doors clear, and retain access to bags needed during the international journey.

Special Items

Do not assume an assembled bicycle can travel on the Barcelona - Aix AVE. Bicycles must be folded or dismantled and bagged; larger bicycle cases, sports equipment and instruments follow special-luggage rules that should be checked before booking.
