Barcelona - Montpellier luggage rules depend on whether you choose Renfe AVE or SNCF TGV INOUI. You carry and store your own bags; there is no airline-style checked baggage service.

Luggage Allowance

AVE allows up to 3 pieces with a combined weight of 25 kg and combined dimensions of 290 cm; the largest piece must not exceed 85 x 55 x 35 cm. TGV INOUI permits 2 large bags up to 70 x 90 x 50 cm each and 1 hand item up to 40 x 30 x 15 cm. Label bags and ensure you can carry them yourself.

AVE and TGV INOUI have overhead shelves and larger luggage racks within or near the ends of carriages. Keep Barcelona - Montpellier bags out of aisles and doorways; on a double-deck TGV, consider the stairs when choosing luggage.
