Hue occupies a central position on Vietnam's North-South railway, the conventional main line linking the country's northern and southern regions. The city has one main passenger train station, Hue Railway Station, served by Vietnam Railways. Rather than functioning as a junction between separate main lines, Hue is an intermediate stop where long-distance through trains share the railway with shorter services along the central coast.
Trains from Hue include daytime intercity departures and long-distance services that continue overnight. SE-numbered trains form the principal through services, while shorter regional trains connect Hue with the coastal railway farther south. Hue Railway Station handles these different services at the same location, so passengers normally do not need an inter-station transfer. Train tickets depend on the selected departure and accommodation; not every train offers the same seating and sleeping options.
Northbound trains to Hue arrive along the corridor through Dong Ha and Dong Hoi, with longer links extending toward Hanoi. Southbound travel follows the line through Lang Co toward Da Nang, continuing to Quang Ngai and Ho Chi Minh City. These are conventional rail services, not high-speed trains, and Phu Bai International Airport requires a road transfer. Book trains from and to Hue online at Rail Monsters.
