Shirakawa sits in southern Fukushima Prefecture on Japan's Tohoku rail corridor, between the Tokyo metropolitan area and the main cities of inland Tohoku. The Shirakawa area is served by two key JR East stations: Shin-Shirakawa for Tohoku Shinkansen services and Shirakawa Station for conventional regional trains on the Tohoku Main Line.
Trains from Shirakawa include JR East Shinkansen services at Shin-Shirakawa, mainly Yamabiko and Nasuno trains, plus local and regional trains using the Tohoku Main Line through Shirakawa Station and Shin-Shirakawa. Shirakawa does not have a direct airport rail station, so passengers usually connect by rail through Koriyama, Utsunomiya, Omiya, or Tokyo depending on the airport and route.
Rail routes from Shirakawa run south toward Utsunomiya, Omiya, and Tokyo, and north toward Koriyama, Fukushima, and Sendai. Regional Tohoku Main Line trains also link nearby towns across southern Fukushima and northern Tochigi. Book trains from and to Shirakawa online at Rail Monsters.
