Yuzawa is a rail hub in southern Niigata Prefecture on the Joetsu Shinkansen corridor between the Tokyo area and the Sea of Japan side of Honshu. The town is centered on Echigo-Yuzawa Station, with seasonal rail activity also linked to Gala-Yuzawa Station. JR East is the main operator for high-speed and local trains to Yuzawa.
