Night trains are long-distance trains designed for overnight travel, typically running between major cities or across borders.

Not all night trains have sleeper options — some offer only reclining seats. Rail Monsters always shows the available travel classes (seats, couchettes, or sleepers) for each night train departure.

Depending on the country and the train, you might find:

• Reclining Seats – Cheapest option, but not flat. Shared coach.

• Couchettes – Bunk-style beds in shared cabins (usually 4–6 people). Mixed or gender-separated. Basic bedding provided.

• Sleepers – Private or semi-private cabins with proper beds, bedding, and sometimes a washbasin or toilet.

• Deluxe / Private Cabins – Premium cabins with en-suite bathrooms, full bedding, and sometimes meal service.

All options are shown during booking — including whether cabins are private, mixed, or women-only.

In many cases, yes. Rail Monsters will display available cabin types when booking a night train — for example:

• “Upper berth in 4-bed couchette”

• “Private sleeper cabin”

• “Women-only couchette (lower berth)”

Some routes also offer optional extras: private occupancy, en-suite cabins, or meal add-ons. Selection depends on the train and rail supplier.

If specific berth selection is not available, the system will assign you one automatically based on your preferences and availability.

Yes — night trains are widely used and considered safe across Europe, Asia, and beyond. Most include:

• Attendants or onboard staff per carriage

• Lockable cabins in higher-class sleepers

• Gender-separated couchettes on select routes

• Security checks or ID requirements depending on the country
