Gimje is a rail city in North Jeolla Province on South Korea's Honam Line, positioned between Iksan and Jeongeup. The city has one main passenger train station, Gimje Station, and its intercity rail services are operated by Korail. Gimje functions as a local access point to the national rail network rather than a major terminal.
Trains from Gimje include selected KTX high-speed services, ITX-Saemaeul intercity trains, and Mugunghwa regional trains. Gimje Station handles northbound and southbound services on the Honam corridor, with many wider connections made through Iksan Station, a larger junction nearby. There is no dedicated airport rail link from Gimje.
Rail routes from Gimje run north toward Iksan, Daejeon, Cheonan-Asan, and Seoul, and south toward Jeongeup, Gwangju-Songjeong, Naju, and Mokpo. Travelers using trains to Gimje usually arrive through the same Honam Line corridor, with KTX and conventional Korail services stopping according to the selected timetable.
