Yeongwol is a regional rail stop in Gangwon Province on South Korea's Taebaek Line. The town has one main passenger train station, Yeongwol Station, and Korail operates the intercity and regional services that call there. Its rail role is focused on inland connections between the Chungbuk Line junction at Jecheon and the mountain rail corridor toward Taebaek.
Trains from Yeongwol are conventional Korail services rather than high-speed rail. Passengers use Mugunghwa and selected ITX-Maum services for reserved-seat travel across central and eastern South Korea. Yeongwol Station is the main train station for train tickets, departures, and arrivals in the county, with Jecheon serving as the closest larger interchange for wider national rail connections.
Rail routes from Yeongwol run west toward Jecheon, Wonju, and Seoul's Cheongnyangni area, and east through the Taebaek Line toward Taebaek, Samcheok area connections, and Donghae. Common city pairs include Yeongwol with Jecheon, Cheongnyangni, Taebaek, Donghae, and Wonju. Book trains from and to Yeongwol online at Rail Monsters.
