Terms and Conditions
Introduction
Thank you for choosing Rail Monsters. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the railmonsters.com website and mobile applications (“Service”), owned and operated by railmonsters.com (“we,” “us,” or “our”) and its subsidiaries in the United Kingdom. By accessing or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please refrain from using our Service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using railmonsters.com or our apps, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms. If you are using our Service on behalf of an organization, you are agreeing to these Terms for that organization and confirming that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
You must be at least 16 years old to use our Service. If you are under 16, you may only use Rail Monsters with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian.
2. Scope of Services
Rail Monsters is an independent online travel agency. Its core service is the search, booking and management of official rail tickets issued by rail operators. Rail Monsters also offers eSIMs, additional baggage services and other travel-related services, which may include accommodation, transfers and insurance where available.
Rail Tickets: Rail Monsters acts as a booking agent, arranging the purchase of rail tickets from rail operators and their authorised suppliers on your behalf. The contract of carriage is between you and the rail operator and is governed by the rail operator's conditions of carriage. Rail Monsters is not a party to that contract and has no control over the operation, timing, safety or quality of rail services.
Not a Transport or Service Operator: Rail Monsters does not operate trains, airlines or any other transport, accommodation, insurance or telecommunications service. Our role is limited to arranging bookings between you and service providers.
Third-Party Services: For baggage services, accommodation, transfers, insurance and other third-party services, Rail Monsters acts solely as an intermediary and is not responsible for the delivery, quality or outcome of those services. Your contract is with the respective service provider. eSIMs are sold by Rail Monsters as a reseller and are governed by Section 2.1.
Technology Platform: Rail Monsters aggregates and displays travel options from multiple providers, enabling you to search, compare and book travel arrangements in one place.
Pricing Transparency: The total price charged includes all applicable provider fees and Rail Monsters' service fees, and may include markups on certain routes or services based on our agreements with providers. Prices may differ from those offered directly by providers. Rail Monsters may receive commissions or booking fees from service providers or affiliates.
Package Travel: Unless a booking is expressly identified as a package at the time of purchase, Rail Monsters does not sell package travel or linked travel arrangements as defined under Directive (EU) 2015/2302 or the UK Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018. Where a package is offered, the applicable package terms and the information required by law will be provided before booking.
2.1 eSIM Services
2.1.1 Nature of the Service
Rail Monsters offers prepaid, data-only eSIM packages ("eSIMs") as a reseller. Mobile connectivity is supplied, operated and technically managed by third-party telecommunications providers and the mobile network operators they work with (together, "Network Providers"). Rail Monsters does not operate any mobile network, does not issue eSIM profiles and has no control over network coverage, speed, performance or availability.
2.1.2 Network Provider Terms
Use of an eSIM is also subject to the terms, fair use and acceptable use policies of the relevant Network Provider ("Provider Terms"), which are made available at or after purchase. By purchasing, installing or using an eSIM, you agree to the Provider Terms. Where the Provider Terms conflict with this Section 2.1 on matters of network operation, coverage, usage limits or technical support, the Provider Terms prevail.
2.1.3 Data Only
Unless the package description expressly states otherwise, eSIMs provide mobile data only. They do not include a phone number, voice calls, SMS or MMS, and cannot be used to contact emergency services. Internet-based calling and messaging applications may work over the data connection but are not guaranteed and may be restricted by local law or by the Network Provider. Do not rely on an eSIM for emergency communications. Some packages may restrict hotspot or tethering, specific applications or VPN use, or apply fair-use speed reductions, including on packages described as "unlimited".
2.1.4 Device Compatibility
Before purchase, you must ensure that your device supports eSIM technology and is not locked to a mobile operator. Rail Monsters does not provide refunds or replacements for eSIMs purchased for incompatible or locked devices.
2.1.5 Delivery, Installation and Activation
(a) eSIM activation details (including any QR code) are delivered by email and in your Rail Monsters account. Keep them confidential: anyone with access to them can install the eSIM. Rail Monsters is not responsible for use of activation details that you have shared, lost or failed to protect.
(b) An eSIM can usually be installed only once. Deleting the eSIM profile, resetting the device or attempting to move the eSIM to another device may make it permanently unusable. Such eSIMs cannot be restored, replaced or refunded.
(c) The validity period starts on activation. For most packages, activation occurs when the installed eSIM first connects to a supported network in the coverage area. For some packages, activation occurs on installation, regardless of location. The applicable activation policy is shown in the package details before purchase.
(d) A package ends when its validity period expires or its data allowance is used up, whichever comes first. Unused data is not carried over and is not refundable.
(e) In some destinations, local law or the Network Provider requires identity verification before an eSIM can be activated or used. If verification is not completed or is refused, the eSIM may not work and is not refundable.
(f) You remain responsible for any roaming or other charges billed by your own mobile operator, including where your primary SIM remains active for data while abroad.
2.1.6 Expiry of Unused eSIMs
A purchased eSIM that has not been activated within six (6) months of the date it was issued to you, or within any shorter period stated in the package details (the "Activation Window"), may expire and be permanently cancelled without prior notice. After a package expires, an eSIM that is not topped up within the period stated in the package details may also be permanently cancelled. Expired or cancelled eSIMs cannot be reinstated, exchanged or refunded. Rail Monsters may, but is not obliged to, send reminders before expiry.
2.1.7 Complimentary and Promotional eSIMs
(a) eSIMs provided free of charge, including as part of a promotion or together with a booking ("Complimentary eSIMs"), must be activated within two (2) months of the date they are issued to you. A Complimentary eSIM that is not activated within that period expires automatically and is cancelled without notice.
(b) Complimentary eSIMs have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for cash, credit or another product, are personal and non-transferable, and may not be resold. Unless stated otherwise, one Complimentary eSIM is available per customer or per qualifying booking.
(c) Rail Monsters may modify or withdraw any promotion at any time before a Complimentary eSIM is issued, and may cancel Complimentary eSIMs obtained through misuse, fraud or multiple accounts.
(d) Complimentary eSIMs are provided "as is". No refund, replacement or compensation of any kind is available for them.
2.1.8 Changes and Interruptions
Network Providers may change, suspend or discontinue networks, coverage, partner operators, speeds or packages, and access may be limited by government restrictions or roaming rules. Rail Monsters is not liable for such changes or interruptions. Where a package is permanently withdrawn before you could activate it, Section 2.1.9(c) applies.
2.1.9 Cancellation and Refunds
(a) Right of withdrawal. By completing your purchase, you expressly request that the eSIM be supplied immediately and acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal once the eSIM activation details have been delivered to you. Where this acknowledgement is not effective under applicable law, you may cancel an eSIM that has not been installed or activated by contacting us within 14 days of purchase.
(b) No refunds are available for: incompatible or locked devices; incorrect installation; deleted or reset eSIM profiles; activation before travel; expiry under Section 2.1.6; used or partly used data; coverage, speed or network quality within the destination; failed identity verification; lost or shared activation details; or breach of these Terms or the Provider Terms.
(c) Technical faults. If an eSIM cannot be activated or used because of a fault on the Network Provider's side, you must report it to [email protected] within 30 days of the issue arising, and cooperate with troubleshooting, including providing device screenshots on request. If the fault is not resolved within a reasonable time and the Network Provider confirms it, Rail Monsters will, at its option, provide a replacement eSIM or refund the price paid for that eSIM, or the unused portion where data has been partly consumed. Rail Monsters' service fees are non-refundable.
2.1.10 Acceptable Use
You must not resell eSIMs, use them for unlawful purposes, in automated, bulk, machine-to-machine or SIM-box applications, for fraud, or in sanctioned territories. Rail Monsters or the Network Provider may suspend or cancel an eSIM used in breach of this Section without refund.
2.1.11 Personal Data
To issue and support your eSIM, Rail Monsters shares the necessary data (such as order details, email address and eSIM identifiers) with Network Providers, who may process it outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. See our Privacy Policy for details.
2.1.12 Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Rail Monsters is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from the purchase or use of an eSIM, including missed connections, lost bookings, loss of data or charges from your own mobile operator. Rail Monsters' total liability in connection with any eSIM is limited to the amount you paid Rail Monsters for that eSIM. For Complimentary eSIMs, Rail Monsters has no liability to the extent permitted by law.
2.1.13 Statutory Rights
Nothing in this Section 2.1 excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, or affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
2.2 Additional Baggage Services
2.2.1 Nature of the Service
Rail Monsters may offer additional baggage services for selected routes, fares and rail operators ("Baggage Services"). Baggage Services are provided by the relevant rail operator or other supplier (the "Baggage Provider") under its own rules and operational conditions. Rail Monsters acts as an intermediary in arranging Baggage Services and does not carry, store, handle or insure baggage.
2.2.2 Conditions and Restrictions
Availability, baggage allowance, maximum dimensions, weight, number of items and price vary depending on the Baggage Provider, route, fare and type of service. The applicable conditions and restrictions are displayed before purchase. By purchasing a Baggage Service, you confirm that you have reviewed and accepted them, together with the rules of the Baggage Provider.
2.2.3 Confirmation
A Baggage Service is confirmed only once the Baggage Provider has confirmed it. If the Baggage Provider does not confirm a Baggage Service you have paid for, Rail Monsters will refund the price paid for that Baggage Service in full.
2.2.4 Link to Your Ticket
A Baggage Service is linked to the passenger, journey and ticket for which it was purchased and cannot be transferred to another passenger or train. If the associated ticket is changed or reissued, the Baggage Service may not transfer to the new ticket and may need to be purchased again, unless stated otherwise at the time of the change.
2.2.5 Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for ensuring that your baggage complies with the size, weight, quantity and content restrictions of the Baggage Provider, including restrictions on dangerous, prohibited and high-value items, for labelling baggage where required, and for supervising baggage that travels with you. Baggage that does not comply may be refused or subject to additional charges by the Baggage Provider. No refund is available from Rail Monsters in such cases.
2.2.6 Loss, Damage and Delay
Claims for loss of, damage to or delay of baggage must be made to the Baggage Provider in accordance with its rules and applicable law. On request, Rail Monsters will provide booking information to support your claim. Rail Monsters is not liable for the loss of, damage to or delay of baggage.
2.2.7 Cancellation and Refunds
(a) Unless stated otherwise at the time of purchase, Baggage Services are non-refundable once confirmed, including where you cancel, change or do not use the associated ticket.
(b) Where the rail operator cancels the associated train, or the Baggage Provider is unable to provide the Baggage Service, the price paid for the Baggage Service will be refunded where the Baggage Provider refunds it or where a refund is required by applicable law.
(c) Rail Monsters' service fees are non-refundable.
(d) Baggage Services relate to transport on a specific date and are not subject to a statutory right of withdrawal (see Section 7).
For further information, please refer to our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
2.3 Additional Services
2.3.1 Scope
This Section applies to all additional services offered by Rail Monsters, whether purchased together with or separately from a rail ticket, including eSIMs, baggage services and other ancillary services ("Additional Services"). Where a specific section of these Terms applies to an Additional Service (including Sections 2.1 and 2.2), that section prevails over this Section 2.3.
2.3.2 Separate Conditions
Each Additional Service is a separate service with its own conditions, including cancellation and refund conditions, which may differ from those of the associated rail ticket. The applicable conditions are displayed before purchase.
2.3.3 Independence of Services
If an Additional Service cannot be provided, the associated rail ticket and any other services in your order remain valid, unless stated otherwise at the time of purchase.
2.3.4 Cancellation or Change by You
An Additional Service marked as non-refundable will not be refunded solely because you cancel, change or do not use the associated rail ticket, except where a refund is required by applicable law or carrier rules.
2.3.5 Cancellation by the Rail Operator
Where the rail operator cancels the associated train, Additional Services that can only be used on that train will be refunded where the relevant supplier refunds them or where a refund is required by applicable law. Additional Services that can still be used independently of that train, such as eSIMs, are not refunded on that basis
2.3.6 Fees
Rail Monsters' service fees for Additional Services are non-refundable.
3. Amendments to Terms
Rail Monsters reserves the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time at our sole discretion. We will endeavor to provide reasonable notice of any significant changes. Your continued use of the Service after any changes signifies your acceptance of the revised Terms.
We recommend that you review these Terms periodically. The date of the last revision is always posted at the top of this page.
4. User Registration and Account Management
Account Creation Requirements
To access certain features of our Service, you must register for an account. When creating an account, you agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account information, including your password.
User Responsibility for Account
You are responsible for safeguarding the password you use to access our Service and for any activities or actions under your account. Please notify us immediately of any unauthorized use. Rail Monsters cannot and will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to secure your account.
Account Termination and Inactivity
You may delete your account at any time via the account settings page. We reserve the right to suspend, deactivate, or terminate your account if there is no activity for an extended period or for any violation of these Terms, with prior notice where applicable.
5. Booking and Payment Process
Booking Process
By booking through Rail Monsters, you agree to the terms and conditions of both the rail operator and Rail Monsters. The booking process includes selecting your journey, entering passenger details, and confirming your itinerary before payment. Please review your details carefully, as errors may not be rectified after confirmation.
You will be required to confirm acceptance of these Terms and our Cancellation Policy during checkout.
Payment Methods and Security
Rail Monsters accepts multiple forms of payment, including credit/debit cards, Apple Pay / Google Pay, and other online payment platforms. All transactions are processed through secure payment gateways, and your payment details are encrypted. Rail Monsters does not store complete credit card information on our servers.
Pricing, Fees, and Markups
All prices are displayed in the currency specified on our website and include applicable taxes, our fees, and a minimum service fee of 4% per booking, with a minimum charge of $4 USD or equivalent. Prices may vary depending on the source and included in final price you see (direct or third-party) and may include markups, additional fees for provider services, and our commission. Final prices, including booking fees, are always displayed before payment.
Currency Conversion and Additional Fees
For international bookings, customers may incur currency conversion fees or foreign transaction fees from their payment provider, for which Rail Monsters is not responsible.
Rail Monsters does not control exchange rate differences or any additional charges from your bank.
6. Confirmation and Ticket Delivery
Upon successful payment, you will receive an initial confirmation of your order. This confirmation acknowledges receipt of your booking request but does not yet constitute issuance of your ticket. Following this, our team—either physically or automatically—confirms the order and places it with the rail operator or rail supplier. Once the rail operator/supplier returns the issued tickets to us, we will promptly provide them to you via email and within your Rail Monsters account.
Electronic Ticketing
Tickets are delivered electronically either to the provided email or in your account on the Rail Monsters website. In cases where ticket issuance is delayed, you will be notified of the expected issuance date. Once the tickets are delivered to the email address or account provided, Rail Monsters considers the transaction complete and all obligations fulfilled. In case that we did not deliver tickets, you will get a full refund of your order.
7. Modifications, Cancellations, and Refunds
Modification and Cancellation Policies
Change and cancellation policies are governed by the terms of the specific rail operator. Rail Monsters’ policy applies in addition. Requests must be made through your Rail Monsters account or by contacting our support team.
Cancellation and modification requests must be processed exclusively through Rail Monsters.
If a ticket is changed, cancelled, reissued, or otherwise modified directly with the carrier, at the station, or via any third-party service, Rail Monsters may be unable to verify such changes or the current ticket status.
In such cases, refund eligibility may be affected, and Rail Monsters is not responsible for the ticket status or any related financial outcome. As a result, further cancellation, modification, or refund requests may not be accepted.
Customers must request cancellations and modifications via the Rail Monsters account interface. All fees, including those from the rail supplier and Rail Monsters, are displayed before confirming the request. Once cancelled, refunds are processed automatically.
Cancellations within 24 hours of departure cannot be guaranteed, except in special cases at our discretion. Specific terms and fares are shown before booking at Rail Monsters; some tickets can be non-refundable or non-exchangeable at all.
In accordance with Article 16 of Directive 2011/83/EU, customers do not have a statutory right of withdrawal for transport services with a specific date.
Refunds
Refunds are processed in accordance with the rail operator’s policies and credited to the original payment method within 5–15 business days. Rail Monsters will notify you of any fees associated with refunds. We recommend using Rail Monsters to modify or cancel tickets, as cancellations directly at the rail station may incur additional processing time and fees.
Refund eligibility and timelines are determined by the rail supplier and are beyond our control.
Non-Refundable Fees
Our service fees and any charges levied by our partners or providers are non-refundable. Customers are responsible for arriving at the station on time; missed trains are non-refundable.
8. User Responsibility for Travel Documents and Timely Arrival
Travel Documentation
It is your responsibility to ensure you possess all necessary travel documents, including valid identification, visas, and any health certifications required by local regulations. Rail Monsters is not liable for disruptions due to insufficient documentation.

Customers are responsible for arriving at the station on time. Rail Monsters is not liable for missed trains due to late arrival or missed connections.
9. Platform Availability and Information Accuracy

Accuracy of Information
While Rail Monsters makes every effort to provide accurate timetables, pricing, and availability information, we rely on third-party data and cannot guarantee its accuracy or assume liability for any discrepancies.
10. Limitation of Liability
Third-Party Service Liability
Rail Monsters is not liable for services provided by third-party operators, including rail operators, insurance providers, hotel partners, telecom platforms, or other travel partners, and is not responsible for any injury, death, loss, delay, inconvenience, or damage incurred during travel. Claims related to these matters should be directed to the relevant provider or authority.
