Komatsu is a rail stop in southern Ishikawa Prefecture on Japan's Hokuriku corridor, positioned between Kanazawa and Fukui. The city has one main passenger train station, Komatsu Station, where JR West Hokuriku Shinkansen services meet regional rail operated by IR Ishikawa Railway. Since the Hokuriku Shinkansen extension to Tsuruga, Komatsu has direct high-speed access to the Tokyo side of the national network.
Train tickets for Komatsu cover several service categories. JR West operates Hokuriku Shinkansen services including Kagayaki, Hakutaka, and Tsurugi at Komatsu Station. IR Ishikawa Railway provides regional trains on the former Hokuriku Main Line within Ishikawa, with through running toward neighboring railway areas. Komatsu Airport does not have a direct rail station, so passengers usually connect between the airport and Komatsu Station by road transport.
Rail routes from Komatsu run northeast toward Kanazawa, Toyama, Nagano, and Tokyo, and southwest toward Fukui, Tsuruga, Kyoto, and Osaka through transfers on the Hokuriku corridor. Regional trains from Komatsu also support shorter trips within southern Ishikawa and toward the Fukui border. Book trains from and to Komatsu online at Rail Monsters.
