The Ocean runs northeast from Montreal through Saint-Hyacinthe and Drummondville to Sainte-Foy, then follows the St Lawrence south shore through Riviere-du-Loup and Rimouski. It turns through the Matapedia Valley toward Campbellton, continues via Bathurst and Miramichi to Moncton, then crosses into Nova Scotia through Amherst and Truro before Halifax. River shores, forest and rural settlements appear along the route, although substantial sections are travelled after dark.
