Inbound trains reach Chengdu mainly at Chengdu East Railway Station, with some services also arriving at Chengdu South, Chengdu West, or Chengdu Railway Station depending on the route. High-speed trains from Chongqing arrive in around 1h15m to 1h45m. Trains from Xi'an North reach Chengdu in about 3h30m to 4h. Services from Leshan arrive in around 1h, while trains from Mianyang take about 40m. Southbound high-speed arrivals from Guiyang North take around 3h30m, and services from Kunming South reach Chengdu in roughly 5h30m to 6h. Selected G trains from Beijing West arrive in about 7h30m to 8h.

Chengdu is the largest rail hub in Sichuan and one of the key railway centers in southwest China. The city connects the Chengdu Plain with high-speed corridors toward Chongqing, Xi'an, Guizhou, Yunnan, and central China. China Railway operates passenger services from several Chengdu train stations, with Chengdu East Railway Station handling the largest share of long-distance high-speed trains. Trains from Chengdu include China Railway high-speed G and D services, intercity trains across Sichuan and Chongqing, and conventional long-distance services on selected routes. Chengdu East Railway Station is the main train station for high-speed rail, while Chengdu South Railway Station serves intercity and regional trains on corridors south of the city. Chengdu West Railway Station and Chengdu Railway Station also support selected regional and conventional services. Rail routes from Chengdu run east toward Chongqing and Wuhan, north toward Xi'an and Beijing, south toward Leshan, Yibin, Guiyang, and Kunming, and west toward cities in western Sichuan where passenger rail is available.
