Chongqing is a major rail centre in southwest China with both high-speed and conventional services. Key stations include Chongqing West Railway Station (Chongqingxi), a large high-speed hub handling many long-distance G- and D-series trains; Chongqing North Railway Station (Chongqingbei), a multi-hall complex serving high-speed and conventional services; Chongqing Railway Station (central city station), which handles mainly conventional and regional trains; and Shapingba Railway Station, which serves high-speed and intercity services on routes to nearby cities. Direct high-speed services run between Chongqing and destinations such as Chengdu, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport is connected to the rail network by urban rail transit and airport shuttle buses. Stations provide ticketing, waiting halls and departure platforms for both high-speed and conventional trains.
