Huangshan is a prefecture-level city in southern Anhui province, known for Mount Huangshan (Yellow Mountain), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Key visitor sites include the Huangshan Scenic Area, the ancient villages of Hongcun and Xidi (both listed as UNESCO World Heritage), Tunxi Ancient Street, and the Tangkou hot springs. Huangshan North Railway Station (Huangshanbei) is on the Hefei–Fuzhou high-speed railway and serves as the main high-speed rail hub for the area; Tunxi (Huangshan) Railway Station is closer to the old town and serves conventional rail services. Bullet train services (G and D trains) provide direct connections to cities such as Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing and Hefei, with typical high-speed travel times from Shanghai around 3–4 hours and from Hangzhou around 2–3 hours. From Huangshan North or Tunxi stations, shuttle buses and taxis connect to the Huangshan Scenic Area, Tangkou and the ancient villages. Many travelers buy train tickets in advance; you can buy train tickets and tickets to nearby attractions and plan connections by checking schedules for trains to Huangshan or trains from major hubs.
