Xiamen is a major rail hub on China's southeast coast, positioned on the Fujian high-speed rail network between Fuzhou, Quanzhou, and the Guangdong corridor. The city has two main passenger train stations: Xiamen Railway Station on Xiamen Island and Xiamen North Railway Station in Jimei. China Railway operates the city's high-speed, intercity, and conventional passenger services.
Trains from Xiamen include G-series and D-series high-speed services, regional intercity trains within Fujian, and longer daytime services toward eastern and southern China. Xiamen North handles most high-speed departures across the national network, while Xiamen Railway Station remains useful for selected island-side services and regional trains.
Rail routes from Xiamen run northeast toward Quanzhou, Fuzhou, Wenzhou, Hangzhou, and Shanghai, southwest toward Zhangzhou, Chaoshan, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou, and inland toward Longyan, Nanchang, and other Jiangxi connections. There is no dedicated airport rail link to Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, so passengers normally connect by road from Xiamen Railway Station, Xiamen North, or Xiamen Gaoqi.
