Yantai sits on the northern coast of the Shandong Peninsula and works as an important rail hub for northeast Shandong. The city has two main passenger stations for most intercity travelers: Yantai Railway Station near the central city area and Yantai South Railway Station on the high-speed network. China Railway operates the city's long-distance and regional passenger services.
Trains from Yantai include G-category high-speed trains, D-category intercity services, and C-category regional services across Shandong. Yantai South Railway Station handles many high-speed services using the Qingdao-Rongcheng and Weifang-Laixi corridors, while Yantai Railway Station serves central-city departures and selected intercity trains. Yantai Penglai International Airport does not have a direct passenger rail station, so rail travelers usually connect through Yantai city stations.
Rail routes from Yantai run west toward Weifang and Jinan, southwest toward Qingdao, east along the peninsula toward Weihai and Rongcheng, and north-south via transfer routes toward Beijing, Tianjin, Nanjing, and Shanghai. Book trains from and to Yantai online at Rail Monsters.
