Zhangjiajie is a rail hub in northwestern Hunan, positioned between the Changsha urban corridor, Huaihua, and mountain routes toward western China. The city has two main passenger stations: Zhangjiajie West Railway Station for high-speed and intercity services, and Zhangjiajie Railway Station for conventional China Railway trains.
China Railway serves Zhangjiajie with G-series high-speed trains, D-series intercity services, and conventional K-series long-distance trains. Zhangjiajie West Railway Station handles most newer high-speed services, while Zhangjiajie Railway Station remains relevant for classic rail routes and selected overnight-style conventional services. There is no airport rail station at Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport, so passengers transfer by road between the airport and the rail network.
Rail routes from Zhangjiajie run southeast toward Changsha and Changde, southwest toward Huaihua and connections into Guizhou, south toward Guilin and Guangxi on selected services, and northeast or west through long-distance China Railway corridors toward cities such as Wuhan, Chongqing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen.
