Kaohsiung is southern Taiwan's principal rail hub and the southern end of the Taiwan High Speed Rail corridor. The city has two main intercity rail stations: Zuoying for THSR and TRA interchange, and Kaohsiung Station for TRA services through the city center. Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation and Taiwan Railways Administration are the key passenger rail operators serving Kaohsiung.
Trains from Kaohsiung include THSR high-speed services from Zuoying toward western Taiwan, TRA intercity and regional trains from Kaohsiung Station, and TRA services continuing across southern Taiwan. Zuoying is the main train station for high-speed train tickets, while Kaohsiung Station remains important for conventional rail routes through Pingtung, Tainan, and the South Link Line.
Rail routes from Kaohsiung run north toward Tainan, Chiayi, Taichung, and Taipei, east toward Pingtung and Taitung, and along regional corridors across southern Taiwan. Travelers also use Zuoying to connect between THSR and TRA services. Book trains from and to Kaohsiung online at Rail Monsters.
