The Canadian follows the Canadian National rail corridor east through Saskatchewan and Manitoba to Winnipeg, then crosses northern Ontario via Sioux Lookout, Hornepayne and Capreol before turning south toward Toronto. The Canadian arrives in central Toronto without an airport transfer, but Saskatoon's railway station is outside its city center, so this is not a city-center-to-city-center service at both ends. With only two regular eastbound departures weekly, it is much less frequent and much slower than flying. A bus journey requires checking separate operators and connections rather than assuming a through coach exists. Rail avoids the flight itself, but its environmental advantage depends on occupancy and accommodation on this diesel-hauled, multi-day service.
