G-series high-speed trains (Fuxing CR400 and Hexie CRH380 sets) run the Beijing to Guangzhou route on the Beijing–Guangzhou High-Speed Railway, departing Beijing West and arriving at Guangzhou South. These trains offer Second Class, First Class, and Business Class seating. The fastest limited-stop services operate at up to 300 km/h (186 mph) and complete the journey in about 8 to 8.5 hours, typically calling at major hubs such as Shijiazhuang, Zhengzhou East, Wuhan, and Changsha South. Other G trains make additional stops and take roughly 9 to 10 hours.
As an alternative, conventional Z-series overnight sleepers use the older line at up to 120–160 km/h (75–99 mph), with journey times of approximately 21–24 hours. These services provide hard/soft sleeper berths and a dining car, appealing to travelers prioritizing an overnight schedule and lower fare over speed.
On high-speed G trains, expect wide seats, power outlets, hot water, and a trolley for snacks and drinks; Business Class features 2+1 lie-flat seating. While Fuxing sets are capable of 350 km/h (217 mph), they are timetabled at up to 300 km/h (186 mph) on this corridor.
