High-speed G-series Fuxing bullet trains run from Shanghai Hongqiao to Humen (Dongguan’s high-speed hub). Depending on the path used—either the inland corridor via Nanchang, Changsha, and Guangzhou South, or the coastal line via Hangzhou, Ningbo, Wenzhou, Fuzhou, and Xiamen—these services cruise at 200–300 km/h (124–186 mph), with coastal sections typically 200–250 km/h (124–155 mph). End-to-end times generally range from about 8 to 11 hours, with limited-stop trains on the inland route at the shorter end. Onboard options include Second, First, and Business Class, power outlets, and a trolley service. If traveling via Guangzhou South, the Guangzhou–Shenzhen high-speed leg to Humen operates up to 300 km/h (186 mph) and takes roughly 20–30 minutes.
Conventional Z/T-series overnight trains connect Shanghai with Dongguan (the legacy Dongguan railway station, not Humen). These run on classic lines at 120–160 km/h (75–99 mph) and take roughly 16–20 hours, depending on routing and stops. Accommodation includes Hard Seat, Soft Seat, Hard Sleeper, and Soft Sleeper. Choose the G-series to Humen for the quickest daytime trip, or the Z/T overnight if you prefer to arrive at Dongguan’s traditional station with a sleeper berth.
