G-category high-speed trains run from Shanghai Hongqiao to the Huangshan area via the Shanghai–Hangzhou High-Speed Railway and the Hangzhou–Huangshan line. Services typically terminate at Huangshan North (Huangshanbei), the high-speed hub for the city; local connections cover the western scenic area often referenced as Huangshanxi. Seating options include Second Class, First Class, and on many departures Business Class, with power outlets, luggage racks, and modern restrooms on board. The quickest option uses Fuxing CR400 series sets. These trains reach 300–350 km/h (186–217 mph) between Shanghai and Hangzhou East, then operate at up to 250 km/h (155 mph) toward Huangshan. Limited-stop patterns (often calling only at Hangzhou East and Shexian North) bring the total journey to about 2 h 25 m–2 h 45 m. Other departures use Hexie CRH380/CRH1 EMUs. They run up to 300 km/h (186 mph) on the first leg and 200–250 km/h (124–155 mph) after Hangzhou, adding more intermediate calls such as Qiandaohu, Tonglu, or Fuyang. These trains usually take around 2 h 45 m–3 h 15 m and may omit Business Class on some schedules, while still offering First and Second Class seating.
