In comparison, slower D-series EMUs or G-trains with additional stops cover parts of the route at 200–250 km/h (124–155 mph) and usually take around 7–8 hours, often with a change at Changsha South or Huaihua South. Conventional Z/T/K services generally call at Jishou (not Jishoudong) and run at roughly 120–160 km/h (75–99 mph); reaching Jishoudong from these trains requires a local high-speed connection, extending total time well beyond 12 hours. All high-speed options provide reserved seating and trolley service, while Business Class on the G-series offers the most space and lie-flat seats.
