High-speed trains on the Shanghai to Junanbei route are operated by China Railway High-speed (CRH). Most services run from Shanghai Hongqiao to Junan North (Junanbei) via the Beijing–Shanghai High-Speed Railway and the Rizhao–Qufu High-Speed Railway. G-series Fuxing trains offer Second, First, and on many departures Business Class seating, while some D-series services typically provide Second and First Class only. Speeds reach up to 350 km/h (217 mph) on the Shanghai–Nanjing–Xuzhou section, with up to 300 km/h (186 mph) on the Qufu East–Linyi North–Junanbei stretch.
The quickest option is a limited-stop G-series Fuxing service, often calling at key hubs such as Nanjing South, Xuzhou East, Qufu East, and Linyi North. These trains cover Shanghai to Junanbei in roughly 4 hours to 4 hours 20 minutes, depending on the stop pattern. When a through G-train is not available, a simple same-station change at Qufu East or Linyi North (G+G or G+D combination) is common, with total journey times around 4 hours 40 minutes to 5 hours 30 minutes. Slower D-series trains operate at 200–250 km/h (124–155 mph) on parts of the route and make more intermediate stops.
On board, G-series Fuxing sets provide 2+3 seating in Second Class, 2+2 in First Class, and wider 1+2 recliners in Business Class, along with power outlets, luggage racks, and a trolley or dining counter; Wi‑Fi is available on many Fuxing units. D-series trains offer similar amenities but usually without Business Class. Travelers focused on the shortest travel time should choose the limited-stop G-series, while D-series or 1-change itineraries broaden departure time options.
