On the Shanghai to Qianjiang (Hubei) route, China Railway runs high-speed G- and D-series services. The quickest option is usually a G-series high-speed train from Shanghai Hongqiao to Wuhan (Hankou/Wuhan stations) at 300–350 km/h (186–217 mph), followed by a D-series train on the Hanyi Railway to Qianjiang at 200–250 km/h (124–155 mph). Typical times are about 4–4.5 hours for the G segment and 1.5–2 hours for the D segment, giving a total of roughly 6–6.5 hours including the change. G trains offer Second, First, and Business Class; D trains generally offer Second and First Class, with reserved seating, power outlets, and trolley refreshments.
There are also through D-series trains from Shanghai Hongqiao to Qianjiang/Yichang via Nanjing, Hefei, and Wuhan, operating at 200–250 km/h (124–155 mph) and taking about 7–8 hours due to additional stops. Conventional Z/K services may exist via Wuhan at 120–160 km/h (75–99 mph), often overnight and 13–16 hours, with seat and sleeper options. Note that west of Wuhan the line to Qianjiang is not a 300 km/h high-speed corridor; services there run on the intercity line with lower top speeds.
