An alternative is a mixed itinerary that uses a G-category Fuxing CR400 on the Shanghai Hongqiao–Nanjing South or Shanghai Hongqiao–Hefei South segment at 300–350 km/h (186–217 mph), then connects to a D-train for the 200–250 km/h (124–155 mph) Hefei–Fuyang–Shenqiu North section. This option offers broad frequency and can be similarly timed or around 5–6.5 hours depending on the transfer at Hefei South or Fuyang West. While G-trains are faster on the Shanghai–Nanjing corridor, overall journey times are governed by the 250 km/h sections beyond Nanjing/Hefei. Both options provide modern onboard amenities, with Business Class offering wide recliners or lie-flat seats on select services.
