On the Shanghai to Suining route, the fastest option uses China Railway high-speed services: a G-series train from Shanghai Hongqiao toward Chengdu East on the Hu–Han–Rong corridor at 250–350 km/h (155–217 mph), followed by a short CRH segment from Chengdu to Suining that runs on an upgraded line at around 200–250 km/h (124–155 mph). Typical end-to-end travel time with one connection is about 11–12.5 hours, with stops at major hubs such as Nanjing South, Hefei South, and Wuhan on the high-speed leg. G- and D-series trains offer Second and First Class seating, with Business Class available on selected G services, plus power outlets and a trolley or dining options. By contrast, direct conventional services (Z/T/K trains) run from Shanghai to Suining on legacy lines at 120–160 km/h (75–99 mph) and usually take 28–34 hours. These trains provide Hard Seat, Soft Seat, and sleeper classes (Hard/Soft Sleeper) and basic onboard facilities. Note that there is usually no single high-speed train running the entire way into Suining; the final section uses a lower-speed corridor compared with the Shanghai–Wuhan segments.
