High-speed G-series Fuxing trains connect Shanghai to Bayuquan with one change, typically at Beijing South or Shenyang. Operating with CR400 Fuxing EMUs, these services run at up to 350 km/h (217 mph) on the Shanghai–Beijing and Beijing–Shenyang sections, then up to 300 km/h (186 mph) on the Harbin–Dalian high-speed line toward Bayuquan. The fastest combinations take about 7 hours 45 minutes to 8 hours 45 minutes, with limited stops at major hubs such as Nanjing South, Jinan, and Shenyang. Seating includes Second, First, and Business Class, with power outlets and a trolley service.
By contrast, conventional Z/K overnight trains run from Shanghai to Yingkou (the city serving Bayuquan) on the classic line at 120–160 km/h (75–99 mph), taking roughly 18–22 hours. From Yingkou, a short high-speed or regional hop of about 15–25 minutes brings you to Bayuquan. These trains offer Hard Seat, Hard Sleeper, and Soft Sleeper options, usually with a dining car and simpler onboard facilities. This option trades speed for an overnight ride and lower fares.
