High-speed trains on the Shanghai to Changsha route run mainly on the Shanghai–Kunming High-Speed Railway, departing from Shanghai Hongqiao and arriving at Changsha South. G-series Fuxing services offer Second, First, and Business Class seating, with operating speeds of 300–350 km/h (186–217 mph). Typical calling points on faster runs include Hangzhou East and Nanchang West. The quickest option is the CR400 Fuxing G-series, which covers the journey in roughly 4 hours to 4 hours 45 minutes, depending on stops. A slower alternative is the D-series Hexie EMU, running at up to 250 km/h (155 mph) and taking around 6 to 7.5 hours with more intermediate stops such as Jinhua, Shangrao, and Yichun. A limited number of conventional Z/T services may run between Shanghai Station and Changsha (central) at 120–160 km/h (75–99 mph), but these take 9–12 hours and are not part of the high-speed network.
