All China Railway high-speed trains on the Shanghai to Dangtu route offer Second Class and First Class seating, with many G-series Fuxing sets also providing Business Class. The fastest option is the G-series service from Shanghai Hongqiao to Dangtu East, running on the Beijing–Shanghai High-Speed Railway to Nanjing South at up to 350 km/h (217 mph) before continuing on the Nanjing–Anqing intercity section limited to 250 km/h (155 mph). Typical end-to-end times are about 2 hours to 2 hours 20 minutes, with limited stops such as Suzhou North and Nanjing South before arrival at Dangtu East. D-series Hexie trains follow the same corridor but operate at 200–250 km/h (124–155 mph) and make more intermediate stops—often including Suzhou, Zhenjiang, Ma’anshan East, and Wuhu—so journeys usually take around 2 hours 40 minutes to 3 hours. Both train types provide reserved seating, power outlets, and trolley or kiosk refreshments; G-series services are the quickest, while D-series trains offer broader station access along the lower Yangtze. For a roomier seat, choose First Class, and on select G-series sets, Business Class with 1–2 seating.
