High-speed services on the Shanghai to Fanchang route run from Shanghai Hongqiao to Fanchang West (Fanchangxi) via the Shanghai–Nanjing high-speed corridor and the Nanjing–Anqing intercity line. Most departures are D-class China Railway High-speed trains (CRH1/CRH2) with Second, First, and on some sets Business Class seating. These trains operate at up to 250 km/h (155 mph), covering the journey in about 2 hours 20 minutes to 3 hours, with typical stops such as Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou, Nanjing South, and Wuhu before reaching Fanchang West. A smaller number of services use G-class Fuxing EMUs on the Shanghai–Nanjing leg, reaching 300–350 km/h (186–217 mph) before continuing on the 250 km/h (155 mph) section toward Fanchang West. End-to-end times are often similar to D-class due to the lower speed limit beyond Nanjing South, but G trains can offer slightly shorter times on departures with fewer intermediate stops. Conventional Z/T/K trains also run from central Shanghai to the older Fanchang station (not Fanchang West) at 120–160 km/h (75–99 mph), generally taking 6–8 hours. These offer hard/soft seat and sleeper options. Onboard amenities on high-speed trains include reserved seating, power outlets, and a trolley service.
