G/D‑series high-speed trains (Fuxing/Hexie EMUs) run Shanghai Hongqiao to Yichang East at up to 300 km/h (186 mph), typically in about 6–7 hours with major stops such as Nanjing South, Hefei South, and Wuhan/Hankou. From Yichang East, transfer to a conventional service on the mountainous Yichang–Wanzhou (Yiwan) Railway to Fengjie, where trains generally cruise at 80–120 km/h (50–75 mph) due to tunnels and curves; this last leg usually takes around 3.5–4.5 hours. A second approach is via Chongqing/Wanzhou. Take a G‑series high-speed train from Shanghai to Chongqing (often 8–10 hours at up to 300 km/h (186 mph)), continue on the Chongqing–Wanzhou intercity line to Wanzhou North at up to 250 km/h (155 mph) in about 2 hours, then switch to a conventional Yiwan segment to Fengjie (roughly 1–1.5 hours at 80–120 km/h (50–75 mph)). High-speed services offer Second, First, and Business Class seating with power outlets, while conventional trains on the Yiwan line provide basic seating or sleepers and slower but scenic river-valley running.
