G-series high-speed trains (Fuxing CR400 and CRH380 sets) run from Shanghai Hongqiao to Guiyang North or Guiyang East via the Shanghai–Kunming High-Speed Railway. These services reach up to 350 km/h (217 mph) on flatter segments, with much of the route operating at 300 km/h (186 mph) and 250–300 km/h (155–186 mph) through the mountainous approach to Guizhou. The fastest limited-stop trains—typically calling at key hubs such as Hangzhou East, Nanchang West, and Changsha South—complete the journey in about 7.5 to 8 hours. Seating options include Second, First, and Business Class, with power outlets, ample luggage space, and a trolley or dining counter on board. Other G-series trains on the same corridor make more intermediate stops—often including stations like Shangrao, Yichun, Pingxiang, Huaihua South, and Tongren South—bringing the travel time to roughly 8.5 to 10 hours while offering the same onboard amenities. Conventional overnight services (Z/T-class) also link Shanghai (usually from Shanghai or Shanghai South) with Guiyang’s conventional station. These run at up to 120–160 km/h (75–99 mph) and take around 18 to 22 hours. They provide hard and soft sleeper berths and a dining car, suiting travelers who prefer an overnight timetable.
