High-speed trains on the Shanghai to Lianshui route offer reserved seating in Second and First Class, with many G-series services also providing Business Class. The quickest option is the G-series Fuxing (CR400) high-speed train, running up to 300–350 km/h (186–217 mph) between Shanghai Hongqiao and Zhenjiang on the Beijing–Shanghai corridor, then continuing at up to 250 km/h (155 mph) on the Lianyungang–Zhenjiang High-Speed Railway to Lianshui. With limited stops, typical journey time is around 3 hours to 3 hours 30 minutes, depending on the stopping pattern.
In comparison, D-series Hexie or G-series trains with more intermediate stops—and in some cases a same-station transfer at Zhenjiang or Yangzhou—generally operate at 200–250 km/h (124–155 mph) and take roughly 3 hours 30 minutes to about 4 hours 15 minutes. Both service types feature power outlets, overhead luggage racks, and a trolley service; Business Class on select Fuxing sets offers 1–2–1 seating with wider recline. Trains that call at major intermediate stations such as Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou, Yangzhou, and Huai’an East suit travelers needing regional access, while the limited-stop Fuxing G-series is the fastest end-to-end option.
