On the Shanghai to Nanpingshi route, G-series high-speed (bullet) trains—primarily CR400 “Fuxing” and CRH380 “Hexie” sets—run from Shanghai Hongqiao to Nanping North (Nanpingbei) via the Hefei–Fuzhou High-Speed Railway. Operating speeds are generally 300 km/h (186 mph), with some mountainous stretches at 250 km/h (155 mph), giving end-to-end times of about 4 hours 30 minutes to 5 hours 30 minutes depending on stops at hubs such as Nanjing South, Hefei South, Huangshan North, Shangrao, and Wuyishan North. Seating options include Second, First, and Business Class.
In comparison, conventional Z/T/K trains use the classic network to Nanping’s city stations, running around 120–160 km/h (75–99 mph) and taking roughly 10–12 hours, often overnight, with more intermediate stops. High-speed services provide reserved seating, power outlets, and a dining trolley or bar car and suit travelers aiming for the shortest journey; conventional services offer hard/soft sleeper berths for an overnight schedule. For extra space on the high-speed service, Business Class features wider seats that can recline to a near-flat position.
