Direct G trains are limited on this segment; most itineraries involve a change at Changsha South or Loudi South, with total journey times typically around 5.5–7 hours. Seating includes Second, First, and Business Class, with power outlets and trolley or dining services. Xinhua South station sits outside the town, with local buses and taxis for last‑mile links. As an alternative, some D-series Hexie services (200–250 km/h, 124–155 mph) and conventional Z/T/K trains run to the older Xinhua railway station (in town). D trains generally take 7–9 hours due to more stops or transfers. Conventional overnight services, using Hard/Soft Sleeper or Hard/Soft Seat, run at 120–160 km/h (75–99 mph) and take about 12–16 hours.
