On the Shanghai to Xinyu route, the fastest option is the high-speed G-series running on the Shanghai–Kunming High-Speed Railway from Shanghai Hongqiao to Xinyu North (新余北). These trains are typically Fuxing (CR400) or Hexie (CRH380) sets, operating at up to 300 km/h (186 mph). Most services call at key hubs such as Hangzhou East, Shangrao, and Nanchang West before reaching Xinyu North. Typical end-to-end times are about 4–5 hours depending on the stopping pattern. Seating usually includes Second and First Class, with Business Class on some departures, plus power outlets and a trolley service. For more intermediate stops or later departures, selected D-series EMUs also cover this corridor at 200–250 km/h (124–155 mph), taking roughly 5–6.5 hours. Conventional Z/T/K trains run from Shanghai (often Shanghai South) to Xinyu main station on the Beijing–Kowloon line; they use non-HSR track at around 120–140 km/h (75–87 mph) with longer journey times of about 9–12 hours. These classic services offer seat and sleeper options such as Hard Sleeper and Soft Sleeper. Choose G-series to Xinyu North for the fastest high-speed run, or conventional services to Xinyu for direct access to the legacy station.
