High-speed services on the Shanghai to Yangzhoudong route are mainly G-series Fuxing trains. These typically depart from Shanghai Hongqiao and run along the Beijing–Shanghai High-Speed Railway at up to 300–350 km/h (186–217 mph) before branching near Zhenjiang onto the Lianyungang–Zhenjiang high-speed corridor toward Yangzhoudong, where speeds are generally 250–300 km/h (155–186 mph). Typical travel time is about 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes depending on stops, with common calls at Suzhou North, Wuxi East, Changzhou North, and Zhenjiang South. Seating includes Second Class, First Class, and on select services Business Class.
D-series Hexie trains also operate on this corridor, often using the Shanghai–Suzhou–Nantong route north of the Yangtze before turning west to Yangzhoudong. These run at 200–250 km/h (124–155 mph) and make more intermediate stops, leading to longer end-to-end times of roughly 2 hours to 2 hours 30 minutes. D trains usually offer Second and First Class seating, with Business Class available on a limited subset.
Both train types provide reserved seating, air-conditioning, power outlets, and restrooms. Travelers prioritizing the shortest timing should select the G-series Fuxing, while the D-series is a solid option when seeking more departure choices or starting from central Shanghai station rather than Hongqiao.
