High-speed options from Shanghai to Yanping (Yanping East, Nanping, Fujian) are mainly operated as a combination of Fuxing G-series high-speed trains for the long trunk and a short D-series segment into Yanping East, which is not on the 350 km/h corridor. G-series services depart Shanghai Hongqiao and run at 300–350 km/h (186–217 mph) via two common routings: along the coast through Hangzhou East, Jinhua, Wenzhou South and Fuzhou, or inland via Hangzhou East, Huangshan North, Wuyishan North and Nanping North. With a single same-station change at Fuzhou or Nanping North to a D-series train (200–250 km/h, 124–155 mph), total travel time typically falls in the 5.5–6.5 hour range. Seating on G-series includes Second, First and Business Class, with power outlets and trolley catering.
D-series Hexie trains cover more segments of this route at 200–250 km/h (124–155 mph) and operate the final approach into Yanping East. When running through from Shanghai or paired with an easy connection en route, end-to-end times are usually 6.5–8 hours, with additional intermediate stops. D-series trains generally offer Second and First Class seating, air-conditioned coaches and onboard refreshments.
As an alternative, conventional Z/T/K trains from Shanghai Railway Station to the older Nanping/Yanping urban area run at 120–160 km/h (75–99 mph) and take about 9–12 hours. These services provide hard/soft seats and hard/soft sleeper berths for overnight travel.
