Osaka is one of Japan's busiest rail hubs, positioned between the Tokaido Shinkansen from eastern Japan and the Sanyo Shinkansen toward western Honshu and Kyushu connections. The city has several major passenger stations, with JR Central, JR West, Kintetsu Railway, Nankai Electric Railway, Hankyu Railway, and Hanshin Electric Railway all serving important corridors.
High-speed trains use Shin-Osaka Station, the only Shinkansen stop in the city. Osaka Station handles JR West limited express and regional services through the Umeda area, while Osaka-Namba and Namba serve private railway routes. Tennoji is another key train station for JR West services and access toward Kansai Airport by rail.
Trains from Osaka run east toward Kyoto, Nagoya, and Tokyo, west toward Kobe, Himeji, Hiroshima, and Hakata, south toward Wakayama and Kansai Airport, and southeast toward Nara, Ise, and Nagoya on private railway routes. Book trains from and to Osaka online at Rail Monsters.
