High-speed trains on the Shanghai to Nanjing route offer Second, First, and on many G services Business Class seating. The fastest services are G-category Fuxing trains (CR400AF/BF) running on the Beijing–Shanghai High-Speed Railway between Shanghai Hongqiao and Nanjing South; they operate up to 350 km/h (217 mph), typically cruising at 300–350 km/h (186–217 mph), and complete the trip in about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes, with limited stops at major hubs such as Suzhou North or Zhenjiang, and occasional non-stop runs. D-category Hexie intercity trains (CRH2/CRH380) use the Shanghai–Nanjing corridor at up to 250 km/h (155 mph), make more intermediate stops at Kunshan South, Suzhou, Wuxi, and Changzhou, and take around 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours. Both services provide assigned seating, power outlets, luggage racks, and refreshments. A small number of conventional trains on the older line run between Shanghai Station and Nanjing Station, taking roughly 3–4 hours at up to about 160 km/h (99 mph). For a more premium experience, Business Class on G trains offers wider reclining seats, while First and Second Class feature 2+2 and 3+2 seating layouts respectively.
