High-speed G-series trains link Shanghai Hongqiao with Ganzhou West, typically using Fuxing (CR400) and Hexie (CRH380) sets. These trains offer Second Class, First Class, and on some services Business Class seating. Fuxing services run at up to 300–350 km/h (186–217 mph) on the faster sections, bringing the end-to-end journey to about 4 hours 45 minutes to 5 hours 30 minutes with limited stops such as Hangzhou East, Jinhua, Quzhou, and Shangrao. Hexie-operated runs are generally capped around 300 km/h (186 mph) and usually take closer to 5.5–6 hours.
Conventional services (Z/T/K-series) operate from Shanghai South to Ganzhou (central station) on the classic line. These trains reach around 120–160 km/h (75–99 mph) and require roughly 12–16 hours depending on the stopping pattern. Seating and sleeper options include Hard Seat, Hard Sleeper, and Soft Sleeper, without a premium Business Class equivalent.
Onboard, the high-speed trains provide assigned seating, power outlets, clean restrooms, and a trolley cart or dining car for snacks and hot meals. Conventional trains focus on sleeper comfort for overnight travel, with hot water dispensers and basic dining car service. Choose G-series for the quickest daytime ride, or Z/T/K for an overnight budget option with wider station coverage in Ganzhou proper.
