Yamabiko trainsets have overhead racks above the seats for cabin-sized bags and coat hooks near many seats. Larger suitcases are usually placed in the space behind the last row of seats or kept at your feet if they do not block the aisle.

Bicycles must be folded or disassembled and carried in a bike bag. Skis, snowboards, musical instruments, and sports equipment must stay within size limits and be stored so they do not block doors, aisles, or emergency equipment.

The Tokyo to Shiroishi Shinkansen provides a direct city-center rail link from Tokyo Station to Shiroishi-Zao in under 2 hours on the fastest trains. Highway bus travel between Tokyo and the Sendai or southern Miyagi area usually takes much longer and may require a local transfer to Shiroishi.
